ANIMAL rights protesters staged demonstrations outside North-East city centre supermarkets this weekend.
Members of animal welfare group Viva! targeted Marks & Spencer stores in Durham, Sunderland, Newcastle and South Shields.
They were protesting at alleged conditions at the factory farms that supply some of the chain's duck meat.
Campaigner Diane Sanderson said: "We will be urging Easter shoppers to boycott duck meat and opt for a veggie Easter dinner instead. And we will be urging M&S to end the sale of all factory-farmed duck meat."
No one from Marks & Spencer was available for comment yesterday.
