TRIBUTE has been paid to a regional tourism chief following the demise of his organisation.
The Northumbria Tourist Board's role was taken over last week by the regional development agency One NorthEast.
The agency's staff and assets have been transferred to the agency, but board chief executive Peter Sloyan, who has held his post since 1990, will not be making the move, although he will still be an advisor.
Mr Sloyan said: "I am looking forward to the future and working alongside One NorthEast to continue to strengthen tourism within the region."
One NorthEast chief executive Alan Clarke said: "Peter has played a unique part in supporting the tourism industry in the North-East and I am delighted that Peter's future aspirations are such that the agency is able to draw on his experience and insight."
