A MOVE to use an area for touring caravans to accommodate more static caravans at a holiday park would have a detrimental impact on the landscape, it is claimed.
The scheme at Winksley Bank Holiday Park, Winksley, near Ripon, will be recommended for refusal when the area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council meets in Ripon on April 15.
In her report, planning officer Linda Drake said the proposed scheme, in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, would be visible to road users and neighbouring properties.
Mrs Drake said the scheme would conflict with North Yorkshire County Council and Harrogate planning policies. Azerley and Winksley Parish Council has also objected to the plan.
The established static site is alongside the banks of the River Laver and has 98 caravans.
Existing caravans are said to be well screened from view, whereas the proposed site was more open and visible.
* A scheme to extend Warren Forest Caravan Park at Warsill, near Ripon, allowing 13 additional static caravans, is similarly recommended for refusal due to visibility issues.
