A housing development that offers a mix of homes with affordable price or rental tags was opened yesterday.
Housing minister Keith Hill, who presided over the ceremony at South Hylton Green, in Sunderland, praised the work of Pathway Homes, which is part of the Sunderland Housing Group.
The estate is the first phase of a £300m plan to create 4,000 homes in the city and surrounding areas over the next seven years. In addition to this work, about 6,000 unfit properties will be cleared.
The next two sites are up and running in Washington and the north of the city, while the final two sites are in Houghton-le-Spring and the south of the city.
Mr Hill said: "Pathway Homes and the Sunderland Housing Group are setting a great example of how to create thriving sustainable communities with this development.
