SOME house buyers are managing to knock up to 15 per cent off the price of a property, saving nearly £25,000 on an average home costing £163,000, research has shown.

A third of people buying a property negotiate the price down by between six per cent and 15 per cent, with five per cent managing to knock the full 15 per cent off the asking price, according to The Woolwich.

Those living in London are the best at bargaining with 50 per cent paying less than the asking price, saving up to £37,500 on the average property.

But only in ten people living in Yorkshire and Humberside managed to negotiate a sizeable discount.
