ALMOST a quarter of workers facing redundancy at a North-East factory have found employment.
Hundreds of workers facing redundancy at Samsung were on the hunt for jobs yesterday as the company held an employment fair.
Bosses said that 107 of its 425 workers had found employment - before the plant at Wynard, near Billingham, Teesside, shuts this month after the final batch of orders are completed.
The two-day jobs fair, which continues today, is a major push by Samsung to find its workers employment.
Companies attending were from a range of sectors, including software, health, transport, and call centres.
Vincent Robinson, Jobcentre Plus North-East regional director, said: "This is an all-out effort to find new employment for the people remaining at Samsung who have not yet found new work."
Alan Clarke, One NorthEast chief executive, said: "Bringing job opportunities direct to Samsung employees will greatly increase their chances of finding new work and retaining their much-needed skills in the North- East."
