A MAN has been jailed for nine months after he admitted twice having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Terry McGann, 29, of Wordsworth Road, Darlington, had been drinking with the girl at her mother's house before he persuaded her to go back to his flat.
There he pulled her into his bedroom before having sex with her on the bed, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Prosecuting, Christopher Mitford said: "She did not want to have sex but did so because she was scared."
The pair then went back to her mother's house, where everyone was asleep, and McGann encouraged her to "do it one more time".
McGann pleaded guilty to two counts of having sexual intercourse with a girl under 16 on August 29 last year.
He told police he had consumed super strength lager and had also smoked cannabis and taken speed.
When he was arrested, he said he knew the sex had been illegal, but said the girl had already been with other men.
He said the 15-year-old had initiated the sex by kissing him and that she had asked to go back to his flat.
David Lamb, for McGann, said his client had quite severe mental problems but was not a danger to women.
Jailing McGann, Judge George Moorhouse said: "People who carry out offences of this kind with young girls are committing very a serious crime which justifies a custodial sentence."
