A MAN facing a murder charge over the death of a student has been remanded in custody.
Lloyd Smith, 29, of Corporation Road, Darlington, is accused of the murder of 22-year-old Lee Walker on March 29 and faces a related charge of attempted theft.
Mr Walker was found unconscious outside Bar Size, in Skinnergate, Darlington, following a night out in the town. He died in hospital.
At the hearing at Teesside Crown Court, no application for bail was made.
Judge Peter Fox adjourned the case until June 4 after hearing that more time was needed to complete forensic tests and serve prosecution papers.
Mr Walker, of Cockerton, Darlington, was a student at Luton University and had been on a gap year.
