Durham County FA reached the final of the Association of Northern Counties Youth Cup with a decisive 4-0 victory over Manchester, writes MALCOLM PRATT.
In an even first half, the Manchester goalkeeper made two outstanding saves before being beaten in the 40th minute when a well-worked corner ended with captain Curtis Taylor firing home from an acute angle.
Durham keeper Liam Connell was called upon to save his side before Durham took control in the second period. Fullback Carl Jones scored his first goal for the County to make the score 2-0 and a brace from Steven Richardson completed a superb win.
The final with Northumberland will be played at Whitley Bay on Saturday, April 17 (2pm) while the final of the FA County Youth Cup against North Riding will be staged at Middlesbrough's ground on Saturday May 1, at 3pm.
