Durham City Ladies
Durham City produced a good first half display against Blyth, and created several more chances after Charlotte Rimmer had converted a rebound from a Mel Jones shot. However, City lost concentration in the final five minutes of the half, and the visitors equalised after a goalmouth scramble.
After the break, the two teams batted hard, and Blyth took the lead with a contentious goal. The third Blyth goal, from a direct free kick, killed off any hopes City had of a comeback.
South Durham Royals
Kicking with a strong wind at their backs, Royals found it hard to get any time or space on the ball, as the RA midfield and defence worked hard and it was RA who took the lead in injury time at the end of the first half when Louise Leach broke through to outrun the Royals defence and slip the ball past the keeper.
The second half saw Royals pressure the RA defence and have a Caz Ross header cleared off the line with the keeper beaten. Still Royals pressed for an equaliser but found it difficult to break down a well organised RA team and on 92 minutes Louise Leach sealed the points for RA with her second goal of the game.
