CHILDREN are being given the chance to have a say on community issues.
The names of ten nominees aged between eight and 13 have been put forward by youngsters living on the Red Hall estate, in Darlington, for four posts on a young person's partnership.
Children from the estate will vote for who they want to fill the vacancies during the Easter holidays.
Sarah Small, a play worker on the estate, said that the young partnership members would then be able to sit on the Red Hall Partnership and express the views of other young people.
"Too often we assume too much about what we think children want, but this way we will have a much better idea of what young people really want on the estate and it gives them some responsibility and ownership," she said.
The Red Hall Partnership will be holding its next meeting on Wednesday, May 5, at 4pm
