Hinderwell v Lingdale Utd

A hat-trick from Lingdale's Mark Iseton proved to be the deciding factor. Hinderwell opened the scoring from the right but it was Lingdale who were ahead at half time after two opportunist goals by a sharp Iseton. In the second half Lingdale increased their lead through Hololob before Clennan reduced the arrears with a goal direct from a corner. Iseton completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot only to see the lead reduced again when Hinderwell sub Sivills also converted from the spot. Sivills hit the post and had a goal disallowed in the final minutes, leaving Lingdale with the three points from an entertaining encounter.

Gt Ayton v Brotton WMC

In the early exchanges it was Brotton who looked most likely to score, Burns in the Ayton goal needed to be alert to make saves from Ormarod and Moore. Ayton's first real attack produced a well taken goal by Riply, after the ball was played down the left it was met by Ripleyon the turn and he volleyed past keeper Townend. The Ayton defence were holding a good line, catching the Brotton forwards offside, but in the 20th minute a good ball was played from midfield which beat the offside call, Burns made a good save with his legs only for the resulting loose ball to fall nicely for Lyons to chip into the net and level the score. There followed a period of end to end play, Ripley forced a good reflex save from Townend, who then had to push a shot from Murray over the bar, while at the other end a series of Brotton corners maintained the pressure on the Ayton goal. A quick break set up the second goal for Ayton, Ripley advanced down the right to cross to Pennock for him to Volley past Townend. Ayton opened the second half with a quick goal burst, attacking from kick off. A good strike on goal from Simpson increased the lead and minutes later Busby found space to get in a cross for Murray to score The Brotton players worked hard in midfield, with Waters and Keegans challenging and chasing for the ball in an attempt to get back into the game but after Long and Pennock got the initiative back in the middle of the park creating chances for the forwards, Ayton began to totally dominate the game. On the left Busby was using his pace to get round the Brotton defence, he hit some great crosses for Ripley, Murray and Simpson but none found the all important touch, thjen a move from the right set up Murray to score. Following Townend's long punt in the first half. Ayton keeper, Burns had better luck with his effort as he saw the ball bounce over the head of Townend to add his name to the scoresheet. Brotton attempted to come back at Ayton but the home team had the final say as Busby netted twice more.

Grosmont v Boosbeck Utd

After a slow start Boosbeck began to make headway through the Grosmont defence with both Raw and Al-Dick coming close to scoring but it was Grosmont who took the lead when Boosbeck stood waiting for the offside whistle, Duck placed the ball past the helpless Shimwell. Al-Dick's endless running saw the equaliser when he volleyed in a rebound off the post on the stroke of half time. From the kick off Al-Dick struck a thunderous shot from the half way line which hit the crossbar and bounced off the keeper for a corner, the ball was swung into the Grosmont penalty area for Winter to score. Winter then took a free kick which was met by Leach to take Boosbeck further ahead. Boosbeck were now well on top scoring again when Parry ran through a ruck of players to strike a shot from 40 yards past Waller in the Grosmont goal then Winter found space to net his second. Grosmont replied with a goal from Peggs as the Boosbeck defence was breached for the first time in the second half then some slack play enabled Grosmont to get back into the game with Walker putting the ball into the net after a mix up in the 6yd box. However in the closing minutesJohnson placed a headed ball past the helpless Grosmont keeper.

Lealholm v Redcar Mackinlay Park

Although Mackinaly Park began the match with only ten men they began the most lively but didn't create chances. Lealholm took the lead when a Welham free kick from just outside the area clipped the edge of the wall and with the keeper wrong footed the ball found the bottom corner of the net. An attempt by Butler was cleared off the line before a Whitwell free kick was headed in by Carruthers to give Lealholm a two-goal advantage at the break. With the arrival of Wood, Redcar were back to full strength in the second half and were able to tighten up their defence and with the Lealholm defence also playing well few chances were created. As it began to rain heavily the game was slowed down the only other chance coming when Butler lobbed the Mackinlay Park keeper only to see Wood clear off the line.

The Northern Echo Cup S-Final

Lingdale Tavern v Loftus Ath

Cup holders Lingdale kept their quest for the treble alive with a good performance against Loftus Ath. Lingdale took the lead after ten minutes, Shane Breckon played in nephew Dane for him to run round Verrill in the Loftus goal. Loftus had levelled within five minutes when they were awarded a free kick just outside the Tavern area, Bowes caught keeper, Moore out with a well hit shot at the near post. With the game flowing at a good pace Tavern quickly gained the advantage again, a good run by Ward saw him beat two defenders and cross the ball to Shane Breckon, who turned well and struck a shot across the keeper into the bottom corner. A bad injury to Neil Calvert forced Tavern into a change on the half hour, however his replacement, Darcy, went staright into the action, winning the ball in midfield and playing in Shane Breckon but his effort was well saved by Verrill to keep the score at 2-1 at the break. In the second half Ward and Thompson worked hard in midfield and with man of the match Ashbridge putting in a great performance against his old team, Loftus were unable to break through the Tavern back line.Tavern's third goal came when , with Darcy and Ball combining well, Ball crossed for Ward, the unfortunate Smithies intercepted and slotted the ball into his own net from the edge of the box. With 15 minutes remaining the Lingdale defence held firm, Loftus being unable to break them down, The home side reaching their second final in a week.
