IAlan Spedding Cup (Division One) Glaxo lost 3-0 to Wardley Green. Glaxo played well but the potential Division One champions proved just too good for them. Wardley scored after 20 minutes and went 2-0 down shortly before the interval. The restart followed a similar pattern and when the visitors added a third, the match was virtually over.

In the Premier League Norton-Stockton lost 6-1 to third place Marden. Deverdic opened the scoring for Marden but Keith Aldridge quickly levelled. The restart saw Norton fighting hard but unable to contain Morden's all out attack. Deverdic completed his hat-trick and goals from Paul Grigg, Tim Price and John hall saw Marden run out 6-1 comfortable winners.

In Division Two Wynyard Veterans stay well on course for promotion being in second place, one point behind Gateshead and having four games in hand. They defeated their promotion rivals Red House 1-0 away from home. It was a very tight game the first half ending 0-0. The second half followed a similar pattern and a draw looked on the cards, four minutes from time Wynyard took a free kick on the left hand corner of the pitch. Peter Boldison 's flighted kick however was headed into the net by one of Red House's players for an own goal to give the visitors a 1-0 away victory. Summing up the Wynyard's midfield squad of Alan Morning, Boldison and Tony Docherty turned in an outstanding display and blotted out much of Red House's attacks to make victory possible.

Billingham Town have it all to do if they are to avoid relegation, they lost 5-0 away to promotion seekers Hylton Castle and must get something out of their last six games.

Langley Park Rams head dropped three valuable points by losing 2-0 away to Wingate but with seven games left to play they still have an outside chance of promotion if they can manage a winning sequence.

Darlington Railway continued their fight to avoid relegation. Unbeaten since February 28, they won again by defeating fellow strugglers Marsden Veterans 4-3 at home. Marsden opened the scoring through Bill Mason but Brown equalised shortly afterwards and Horner scored shortly before half time to put the Railway 2-1 in the lead. After the restart Paul Smurthwaite put them 3-1 ahead only for Michael Flynn to score and make it 3-2 to the visitors. Darlington stormed back and virtually settled the issue when Horner scored his second goal of the match and give Darlington a 4-2 lead. Maine scored with the last kick of the game to end the match 4-3 in Darlington's favour.

In Division Three Durham City Strollers turned in a below par performance 4-0 at home to Taylors. They trailed 3-0 at the interval but played much better after the restart only giving away one goal. Scorers were Lee Buzzio a hat trick and Cleaver one.

The Toll Bar moved out of the relegation zone they won 3-2 at home to West Cornforth in hard fought game. A brace from Henderson saw them leading 2-1 at the break. After the re-start Teasdale scored to put the Toll Bar 3-1 in the lead but Cornforth fought back to make it 3-2 and it was end to end football but no further goals came out and the match ended 3-2 to the Toll Bar.

In Division Four Wynyard OB won 5-2 away to the Halfway House. Smith headed the house into an early lead and they should have gone further ahead but Antony Ward regained the lead for the House scoring with a fine solo run.

The restart saw the Old Boys slowly getting on top and dominating the game. Garbutt completed his hat-trick and Paul Davison notched a brace to win the match 5-2 for the Old Boys.

Trimdon Vets lost 5-2 at home to promotion seeking Darsley Park who now move into third spot. The two runners up places are still wide open. Thornley Celtic, Darsley Park, Pennywell and Steels FC are the likely contenders.
