A RESCUE team has been given £1,000 to replace telecommunications equipment.
Scarborough and District Search and Rescue Team, which carries out dozens of rescues each year on the North York Moors and surronding area, has been given the money by the borough.
The team, which was formed in 1965, has 45 volunteers, including doctors, paramedics, nurses and experts in hill walking and climbing. It operates from a base in the village of Snainton and covers an area of more than 2000 square miles.
Deputy team leader Andy Crossley said: "The communications system is the life-line of both rescuers and casualties."
Mr Crossley added that the team was trying to raise a total of £2,250 for the equipment through donations and fundraising events
