A PUB'S plans to expand, adding a village shop to its facilities, have been given the district council's provisional blessing.
Not all residents of Finghall, in lower Wensleydale, were happy with the application by the owners of The Queen's Head.
Some argued that the addition of six letting bedrooms, a new dining area and a three-bedroom house with room for the shop inside, could lead to a conflict between traffic coming and going from the pub and pedestrians trying to use the store.
Others were concerned about additional noise and disturbance and that their properties would be overlooked by some of the buildings.
But on Tuesday, planners agreed to give conditional consent to the application, after agreeing that the occupancy of the new house should be tied to the pub.
A number of windows from the pub's proposed letting bedroom block have also been deleted from the plans so guests are not overlooking neighbouring homes.
