WATER POLO: Sedgefield 75 have five players involved in international duty in April.

Scott Carpenter, the youngest player in the Great Britain Under-19 team, is away for three weeks with training in Manchester, then to Barcelona for a series of matches and training, and then a tournament in Poland.

Carpenter has been drafted into the BG men's squad which is preparing for the challenge of the Commonwealth Games in 2006 in Malaysia. Nobody can remember a 15-year-old being involved at the highest level in men's polo.

Carol Mohan, Angela Winstanley Smithy and Chloe Willcock who is making her debut are at a training camp in Millfield and then a tournament in Portugal for the Great Britain Under 19 team in preparation for the European Championships.

Sarah Scott, who is in the GB Under-17 team, is training with the squad in Manchester.

FEMALE FOOTBALL: Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers Ladies FC are looking for players in Darlington.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers FC are a well established club who currently run three junior boys teams and are now branching out to form their own ladies team in the town which will be managed by Di Jackson.

They are looking for ladies over the age of 16 with or without previous football experience to join Darlington MPR Ladies FC. Training will be held on Thursday evenings with a view to playing matches on Sundays starting in 2004/2005.

CRICKET: Durham Coast League champions Murton are holding a registration event for juniors in the club house on Tuesday, April 13 at 5pm. Thereafter there will be nets.

Seaham Park begin senior nets, also on Tuesday, April 13 at 6pm.

YOUTH FOOTBALL: The first season of the Durham County Lomax Enterprises Under-18 League is drawing to a successful conclusion and out of the seven teams in the league, six are newly-formed, going a long way to ensure that U18 football on a Saturday continues.

With this in mind organisers are looking for clubs to join next season.

It is envisaged sponsorship obtained will continue and if the league has sufficient teams organisers expect to split the league into two or more divisions.
