WINNERS have been confirmed after an evening of high-calibre music that decided the destiny of the top prizes in this year's Young Musician of Richmondshire competition.
The overall champion is 16-year-old Rebecca Humphreys, from Richmond, a pupil at Barnard Castle School, who was also the winner of the woodwind section.
Thomas Creek, 13, who is also from Richmond and attends Richmond School, was the winner in the brass section, while 14-year-old Emily Roe, a pupil at Richmond's St Francis Xavier School, was the winner of the string section.
Nicky Ward, 17, of Easingwold, won the Williams of Darlington Award.
All the prizes were presented after the youngsters performed at Richmond's recently refurbished Georgian Theatre Royal.
