A teenager has been chosen to perform in the National Youth Choir.
Matthew Robinson, 18, of Thornaby, Teesside, has also been given a place at the Birmingham Conservatoire to study classical guitar.
Matthew has made the progression from the training choir to the main choir of the National Youth Choir in time for rehearsals for its 21st anniversary gala concert in Birmingham.
The Egglescliffe College student said: "It was great to get in to the main choir. I changed from a tenor in the training choir to a high baritone and it's really challenging."
Matthew said he only took up classical guitar two years ago but plans to study it for four years at Birmingham Conservatoire.
