STAFF at npower's North-East customer contact centres in Peterlee, east Durham, are being quite eggs-travagant with their generosity this Easter.

A mountain of Easter eggs was donated by npower staff, which are being distributed to hospital wards, foster homes and women's refuges across the region over the weekend.

STAFF at one of the region's military bases clubbed together to buy more than 70 Easter eggs for children.

The eggs were handed to social services staff at Ryedale House, in Malton, North Yorkshire, by Senior Aircraftsman Graham Pawson, an aerospace systems operator at RAF Fylingdales.

He collected the eggs from staff at the base and, as well as Ryedale House, handed them out to children at hospitals in Whitby and Scarborough.

"It's something we do for the every year," he said. "Everyone at the base likes to take part."

YOUNG patients at Darlington Memorial Hospital got a treat when a mountain of Easter eggs arrived.

Staff from Manpower, in the town's Blackwellgate, visited the children's ward with more than 100 chocolate eggs.

"Most of the eggs have come from our clients," said Manpower recruitment consultant Janet Armstrong.

"We get given a lot and we thought it would be nice to take them for the children to enjoy."
