THE RAF will take over a city centre later this week with an open-air careers roadshow.
A full-sized mock-up of a Harrier Jump-Jet will be the star attraction of the event in Parliament Street and St Sampson's Square, York.
The event, on Thursday and Friday, will give local people and visitors the chance to see examples of careers and opportunities in the RAF.
The Harrier cockpit will be staffed by pilots who are undergoing advanced flying training at nearby RAF Linton-on-Ouse, and visitors will have the opportunity to take a seat at the controls.
Organiser Corporal Andy Winter said: "The aim of this event is to show the public, and especially young people, the wealth of opportunities that the RAF offers and to highlight some of the lesser-known careers.
"Both myself and other members of the RAF team will also be on hand to talk personally about their high-flying careers and wide-ranging experiences in the Royal Air Force."
