A FOOTBALL enthusiast recalling the glory days is hoping to trace some of the supporters and players pictured above 55 years ago.
The photograph was taken following a game between arch rivals Crookhall and Medomsley at Kingsway, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, on Easter Saturday April 16, 1949.
Medomsley won 1-0 to take the Lady Eden Hospital Cup.
Colin Reed, of Shotley Bridge, who played for the Medomsley junior team on the day said: "Supporters of both teams travelled to the match in a number of coaches and a train ran from Consett Railway Station to Bishop Auckland.
"It was a big event at the time and a wonderful day out. We were great rivals, but we all knew each other very well.
"Some of the football teams in the lower divisions today would be delighted to attract the kind of crowds we did."
The two teams went on to share the North-West Durham Junior League title after finishing level on points and drawing 0-0 in the play-offs.
He said: "It was 55 years on and I thought it would be great to trace some of the people who are in this photograph."
People who recognise themselves in the picture are asked to contact Mr Reed on (01207) 503636.
