TWO men terrified the occupants of a car by smashing it up with a baseball bat and claw hammer during a row at a fast-food restaurant, a court heard yesterday.
Kamin Atar, 47, and Atsh Kaya, 36, are also alleged to have attacked a motorcyclist who chased them from the scene of the brawl.
Yesterday, the men, both from Darlington, denied two counts of affray at Teesside Crown Court.
Martina Connelly, prosecuting, told the court the disturbance started at the McDonald's restaurant at Middlehaven, Middlesbrough, on August 2, last year.
Witnesses heard shouting between the occupants of two Vauxhall cars belonging to the defendants, which were parked alongside one another.
Miss Connelly said the driver of one car made a V-sign gesture to the two men and Mr Atar got out and smashed the windscreen with a baseball bat before trying to pull the driver from his vehicle.
Mr Kaya is alleged to have shattered two windows on the passenger side and the back windscreen with a claw hammer.
The court heard the pair then drove off along the A66 and got involved in another dispute with two men on a motorbike, who, minutes earlier, had been passengers in one of the Vauxhalls.
Miss Connelly said Mr Atar, of Ruby Street, and Mr Kaya, of Close Street, attacked the pillion passenger, before damaging the bike.
The trial continues.
