A MAN, who admitted being abusive to police as they tried to stop him banging on a woman's door, was given a 12-month conditional discharge yesterday.
Michael Jackson, 24, of Helmsley Moor Way, Darlington, had visited an address in Longdale Street with two friends at 3.55am on Monday last week, South Durham Magistrates Court heard.
Ciaran Grogan, prosecuting, said Jackson banged continually on the front door and police were called.
John Turner, in mitigation, said the woman living at the house had been sending Jackson and his girlfriend grossly offensive text messages.
Magistrates in Darlington also ordered him to pay £34 costs
