STAFF who help holidaymakers travel to destinations across the world have turned their efforts to helping people at home.
Workers at Hays Travel, in Spennymoor, held a charity quiz night and raffle at a local pub in what has become an annual fundraising event.
The eight-strong team of travel agents organised an evening at the Salvin Arms pub, in King Street, which raised £565 for equipment at St Andrew's Medical Practice.
The travel agents' branch manager, Kelly Foster, said the night was likely to become an annual event after last year's effort raised money for youngster Shelley Dodds, who has multiple disabilities, to help create a sensory room in her Ferryhill home.
She said: "It was a brilliant night and the total raised exceeded our expectations, thanks to support from local businesses, who donated raffle prizes, and people who took part. We hope it helps the surgery and in turn local people."
