IMPROVEMENT works on an east Durham town's cemetery and fire station are nearing completion.
Groundwork East Durham in partnership with Durham County Council, Seaham Town Council and the Fire and Rescue Service has been busy upgrading the areas to create a safe, more attractive entrance to Seaham's Parkside Crescent.
At the cemetery there will be a new wall, railings, brickwork and planters and block paving is replacing the existing footpaths.
Steel self-enclosing pedestrian gates will replace the existing barriers at the entrance to the fire station and the existing timber trip rail is being replaced with brickwork piers and metal railings.
The untidy vegetation surrounding the station is to be tidied up and enhanced with a bulb planting programme.
