A MAN is recovering after his jaw was broken in six places when he was attacked by a gang of youths.
The victim, who has not been named, was walking in Mill Hill Road, Sunderland, with his girlfriend, when the attack took place.
As they neared a subway, they were approached by a gang of up to ten youths, who were walking from the direction of the nearby Morrisons supermarket.
Without provocation, they grabbed the man, dragged him to the ground, then punched and kicked him repeatedly in the head.
The man's girlfriend was unharmed.
The incident happened at about midnight on Friday, April 2. Police released details of the assault yesterday in an attempt to trace witnesses.
