PROPOSALS to turn a former windmill in Ingleby Barwick into bed and breakfast accommodation are likely to be approved.
Plans for a two-storey extension to use as a B&B, comprising a flat and two bed and breakfast rooms, lounge, dining room and conservatory at The Old Mill, in Barwick Lane, will be discussed by Stockton Borough Council next Wednesday.
A report to the meeting will say: "The property of the Old Mill is a distinctive and charismatic building.
"One of the few windmills left within the Stockton area, it creates interest and variety on the landscape of Ingleby Barwick, which has been less than imaginative in its building styles.
"The retention of the building is welcomed from a conservation point of view, as it is a reminder of a once common building type that would have been prominent in the Stockton locality."
