Newton Aycliffe 6 Grey Horse 0: Facing a strong wind in the first half, Aycliffe did well to reach the interval a goal to the good, Anthony Forrest the scorer.
The second half was a different story as with the elements in their favour. Aycliffe dominated proceedings. Kevin Wilkinson added a second from the penalty spot and his side added a further four in a four-minute spell midway through the half. Wilkinson completed his hat-trick, Aaron Duff got the fifth and Dale Anderson completed the scoring. To their credit a young Horse side never gave up and came close to breaking their duck on a couple of occasions. A disconcerting aspect was the lack of sportsmanship as at the final whistle not one player shook hands with his opponents or acknowledged the referee.
Newton Aycliffe 3 Heighington 2
This Good Friday fixture was a very entertaining affair with the play switching from end to end throughout. Aycliffe led on three occasions only for Heighington to level twice. David Sugden was on the mark after his return from suspension and Aycliffe's other scorers were Anthony Forrest and man of the match Dale Anderson. Neil Bannister and Andrew Etherington replied and Richard Routledge was Heighington's star man.
Killinghall Arms 4 Grey Horse 2
A game played in an excellent sporting manner saw Killie take advantage of a shortage of regular personnel in the Grey Horse line-up. Darren Tate put Horse ahead, but then a succession of missed chances, goalkeeping errors and clinical finishing saw Killie take a 4-1 lead with goals from Turner (3) and Sean Rochford. Darren Tate did pull one back with the goal of the game, a 35-yard screamer which earned him man of the match for his team.
Newton Aycliffe 7 Shuttle & Loom 0
This victory completed an excellent four days for Aycliffe. Shuttle were never in it and succumbed to hat-tricks from Dale Anderson and Aaron Duff and one from David Baldwin.
Crook and District League
Bishop Rugby Club won the Norman Wright Memorial Trophy for the first time when they defeated holders West Auckland Queens Head in a close match at Crook Town. Queens Head had their best chances in the opening half but failed to take them and Dwayne Hinds' goal in the 75th minute gave Rugby Club the cup. The sides will meet again in the last match of the season that will probably decide the fate of the title.
Evenwood White Swan brought their poor league run to an end in a high scoring game at Howden Australian. Chris Howe scored a hat-trick and two from Neil Teesdale earned White Swan a 5-4 win. Wayne Reed, Kevin Burke, John Conley and Andrew Morgan were on target for the Australian.
Byers Green St Peters had to come from behind twice beat Stanley United 3-2. Christopher Pickles (2) and David Savage scored for Byers Green and Stanley replied through Wayne Clarke and Stuart Dawson.
