More than 30 little chefs descended on a hotel this week to learn about different types of food and how to cook it.
Simon Walsh, head chef at the Morritt Arms, Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle, County Durham, was holding the Little Mad Chefs afternoon to encourage children to become interested in food.
He said: "We're trying to promote fun food for kids and show them food doesn't all have to be chicken nuggets and burgers.
"Kids might think that a bowl of pasta is boring, but if they get to make up the dough and roll it out themselves and make fresh noodles they appreciate it more."
As well as pasta, the children made bolognese and wild mushroom sauces, sausage rolls, Australian chocolate brownies, scones and a variety of fresh breads.
Mr Walsh said: "The quality of the food was fantastic and the kids have really loved it. The expression on their faces when they showed their parents what they made was great.
"My kitchen is in a pretty state, but it has been well worthwhile."
