Only three games took place this weekend. Parklands kept up their challenge to retain their league title with a 4-2 victory over Jack and Jill.
All four of Parklands games came in the first period. Darren Fixter opened the scoring for Parklands, Jon Pinchbeck made it two then Micky Flynn added a third. Kevin duckling pulled one back for Jack and Jill before Fixter recorded his second. The second half saw Jack and Jill come more into the game but all they had to show for their efforts was a second from Duckling.
John Davey Limited took advantage of a weak Iceland side running out 6-1 victors. After losing their first five games JDL have had a run of 14 victories moving into joint top position. it man for John Davey Limited was Ken Kemp with four goals, it should have been five but he failed to convert from the spot, firing straight at the keeper. Peter Snaith and an own goal accounting for the other two. The core of the game came from the boot of Craig Owens, a stunning volley from the edge of the box for Iceland's consolation.
Gamble Manders edged a 1-0 victory over D and E Locksmiths. A game of few chances both defences on top. A strong wind prevented controlled football and most danger was coming from set pieces. Gambles Manders rattled the woodwork following a corner, others were scrambled away while D and E could only manage shots from a distance causing little trouble for manager Doug Hugill. The winning goal came from the best move of the game from a defensive position. Steve Wilson played the ball out to David Whitfield who in turn fed Craig Farnaby who put in a great cross and Neil McCrughan to time his run and put in a bullet header.
