Billingham Pumas completed their English Under-12 North B League regular season with a crushing victory over Grimbsy Ghosts at Forum Ice Arena.
Bottom of the table Grimsby went behind at 5.25 when Robert Heale opened the scoring for Pumas. James Moss and Daniel Spedding had given Billingham a 3-0 at 8.16.
Pumas were short-handed when they doubled their advantage to 6-0 as Heale, Moss and Joe Watson all scored. The total reached double figures within three minutes of the second period as Moss completed his hat-trick with a brace plus Jack Chapman and Josh Goodrick also finding the target.
Grimsby's first reply came at 20.49 with a Gareth Beecham goal. The ten goal lead was restored at 22.08 when Moss was on target.
James Mcgill replaced Thomas Bence in the Pumas net at the same time Watson scored his side's eleventh with Pumas short-handed after 29 minutes. Grimsby hit back with two goals in the 32nd and 34th minutes.
Watson bagged a further brace in the 35th and 36th minutes to finish with five goals in the match. Moss also finished with five goals when he completed the scoring in the final minute.

Pumas go into the promotion/relegation play-offs alongside Flintshire Flyers and Whitley Bay Arrows. Blackburn Sparrowhawks pulled out of the play-offs.

Whitley Tomahawks rounded off their English Under 16 North A league season with a 13-1 home defeat at the hands of Sheffield Rapiers at Hillheads. Whitley, bottom of the table and confined to the promotion/relegation play-offs were under strength icing only nine skaters and one net-minder because of Easter Holidays.
Sheffield finishing in second place went ahead at 1.46 and went into a 5-0 lead after 11 minutes. Liam McAllister. in Tomahawks goal was doing well in keeping down Rapiers goal tally. Four goals for the visitors in just over two minutes pushed them into a 9-0 advantage.
Whitley's consolation goal came on the powerplay at 33.16 when Sam Zajac's long range effort went through the netminder's legs. 7 minutes later Sheffield reached double figures and three late goals for Rapiers gave them a 13-1 win. McAllister was Tomahawks man of the match and faced 57 shots.

Whitley will face Bradford Pirates, Coventry Blaze and Sheffield Greyhounds in the promotion/relegation Under 16 North Play-Offs.

Whitley Bay Squaws, second in Womens Division One North, held leaders Telford Wrekin Raiders to a 4-4 draw at Hillheads. Squaws went ahead in the second minute through Becky Kasner. Telford hit back to draw level at 4.17 before going ahead in the 12th minute. Raiders doubled their advantage at 17.51.
Whitley dug deep and cut the deficit a minute later through Sara Christie. The scores were level when Christie netted her second goal of the game. Kasner recorded her second when she struck at 30.42 to put Squaws 4-3 ahead. Telford earned a share of the spoils with a goal in the 37th minute.

Both Whitley Bay Mischiefs and Sunderland Apaches took part at the Under-10 Event in the Fife Hockey UK 2004 Tournament over Easter. Neither won this five team event which was won by hosts Fife.
Mischiefs came out on top in the match against Apaches. Andrew Cook put Whitley ahead at 1.45 and Bradley Orton tied the scores in the 10th minute. Kate Ord gave Whitley a 2-1 win with the winning goal at 12.08.
Whitley's other round-robin games ended in defeats, to Fife (0-8), Swindon (0-4), and Telford (1-7), Ben Richards was the scorer against Telford.
They reached the semis and lost to Fife 9-0.
Sunderland did not do any better failing to qualify for the semi-finals. Dale Sharp was their lone scorer in a 10-1 defeat to Telford. Other losses from Swindon (0-5) and Fife (0-6).
Apaches only victory of the weekend was the spirit of the tournament recipient. A 6-1 win over a Fife Young Under 10 side was also a highlight.
Sunderland Chiefs were one of five teams in the Seniors event at the Fife Hockey UK 2004 Tournament. The Wearsiders travelled North with an under-strength squad and did not do too badly. They began with a 0-4 loss to Kirkcaldy despite guesting Hull Stringrays Andrew Munroe which the other clubs objected to as it broke tournament rules as permission had not been given because of communication break.
Munroe scored after 12 seconds against Sheffield before Sheffield won 2-1. Munroe scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Camperdown against Blackburn. Munroe and Michael Allinson were on target in a 2-2 draw.
Chiefs looked set for a semi-final tie against Sheffield. If as they were asked not to play Munroe against Blackburn this they declined and allowed Munroe to play which meant Blackburn squeezed into the semis. Kircaldy defeated Sheffield on penalty shots after a 1-1 draw.
