A CANCER support group has a new home in Chester-le-Street's community hospital.
Helping Hands, which was set up in 2000, used to meet in the town's old general hospital but moved to the Highfield Hospital while the old facility was pulled down and replaced.
The charity has 30 members and volunteers, and uses a meeting room and therapy room where complementary treatments, such as reflexology, can be given.
Chairwoman Joan Davison said: "The group meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm.
"Meetings offer the opportunity to chat over a cuppa, take part in sessions with counsellors, aromatherapists, reflexologists and spiritual healers.
"Experts often attend meetings to speak to the group on topics such as nutrition, herbalism and homeopathy. All information and advice is provided free of charge.
Any speakers, therapists or people who wants to join the group can call 0191-388 4523 for details.
