A COMMUNITY Pathfinder Project, which has been running in rural areas of County Durham for three years, has won funding for a further three months.
The extra cash will mean that work in the east Durham centres of Seaham, Peterlee and Horden will be able to continue.
A partnership between One NorthEast, Durham County Council and the Learning and Skills Council, the Pathfinder project recruits volunteers to work in community centres and libraries, helping residents to overcome their fear of computers.
Project co-ordinator Vivienne Dryden said: "During the life of the project, volunteers took part in 861 hours of training and 1,144 new learners were supported in local venues.
"Volunteers are supported by the project team and also have the opportunity to do further training."
Anyone wanting to find out more about the project or who would like to volunteer can contact Ms Dryden at Durham County Council on 0191-383 3716.
