VOLUNTEERS have been involved in a green project to improve their environment.
The Friends of Guisborough Forest and Walkway were joined by helpers to plant an area on the Beckside Line, behind Somerfield supermarket, in Guisborough, with Guelder Rose.
Ted Amos, group chairman, said: "As the bushes grow and mature, they will improve the area for both residents and wildlife, with many bird species benefiting from the extra food provided by the plentiful supply of Guelder Rose berries."
The activity was part of a four-month campaign called Action Earth and supported by the Environment Agency.
It involves more than 750 voluntary organisations, businesses and community groups countrywide, all of which will be involved in projects of immediate and lasting benefit to the environment.
To take part in the campaign, call the Environment Agency Action Earth hotline on (01213) 287455.
