Spraire Lads Under-15 B produced a commanding performance to win 11-1 at Saltburn Athletic. Top scorer Lee Borrowdale turned provider to set-up all three goals of an Elliot Gardner hat-trick, but still found time to nab a brace for himself.
Thomas 'Tubs' Chandler and Dale Elgie also grabbed a brace apiece. The scoring was completed with goals from Robert Knox and Sam Clarke. Lewis Raper was awarded man of the match for a very accomplished display at left-back. It now remains for Spraire to take a point from their final match at Dormans Athletic to take the Division Four title.
Spraire Lads Under-15 A, sponsored by CCW Installations, went down 3-2 to New Marske Juniors in a League Cup quarter final. The defeat was the combined result of a poor first-half and injuries to key players. Finding themselves 3-0 down after a disastrous first-half, Spraire pulled a goal back after Craig Lavelle snapped up a typical close range opportunity. Lavelle's second arrived via the penalty spot after a mazy run from Gary Hill earned a penalty after his cross was handled. In a stop-start finish, Spraire pushed to take the tie into extra time, but in the end they were beaten by the clock. Man of the match was Nathan Liddle for a towering performance in the heart of the defence.
