The Mens Singles Stableford Competition on Saturday started a busy Easter Weekend programme. It was won by Ian Dobson with 40 points. Peter McNay and Alan Johnston tied for the runner-up spot, with Peter being placed second by virtue of a better back six holes.
Sixteen-year-old Steven Dart came out on top with a nett 68, in the Lombard Qualifier Medal on Sunday, April 11. Steven now qualifies to play in the next round of the Lombard Competition with Club Professional, Peter Kelly.
Roland Thompson tied with Steven on nett 68, but lost out on a count back over the back nine holes. Jeff Doidge was third with a nett 69.
There was a large entry for the first Mixed Competition of the year, the Easter Mixed on Bank Holiday Monday, April 12. Played to Greensome Stableford format the event was keenly contested, with Tony Armstrong and Janice Blakey leading the field on 42 points. Tony Christie and Liz Nelson were second on 41 points, with Wayne Pearse and Tracey Pearse filling third place on 40 points.
The Ladies Section competed for the Kath Golightly Salver on Sunday.
This resulted in an excellent win for Jean Sutton with a nett 69. Liz Nelson was runner-up on nett 71 with Anthea Rowntree third with a nett 74.
Result of the Mens Midweek Stableford held on Wednesday, April 7: Some good scoring given the damp and miserable conditions: 1st R.Costello 43 pts; 2nd A.Johnston 39; 3rd S.Longmire 38.
The Juniors played their first competition of the year on Wednesday, April 7 in the Easter Egg Stableford. Seven Juniors braved the conditions from the cold and harsh winds to record scores to be proud of.
Results: 1st Michael Fearman 46 points; 2nd Steven Dart.38; 3rd Adam Fearman 34.
Well done to all who took part.
Juniors should note: team practice nights have been arranged for Wednesdays 21 and 28 April at 5pm. All those with a handicap of 28 or less are welcome to attend.
