A SERIES of health roadshows aimed primarily at people aged over 50 are returning to Sedgefield borough.

The initiative offers the opportunity to have free general health, diabetes and cholesterol checks. There will also be the chance to access information about healthy cooking, medicine management, foot health, energy advice, home security, fire safety and gentle exercise.

Free complementary therapies will be available at all events.

The roadshows will be held in Spennymoor Leisure Centre next Thursday, Sedgefield Village Hall on May 6, and Fishburn Community Centre on May 20. All events will run between 9.30am and 1pm.

The events are run by a partnership involving Sedgefield Primary Care Trust, Sedgefield Borough Council, Tees and Durham Energy Advice, Warm Front, The Pioneering Care Partnership, Age Concern Durham County, Durham Constabulary, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Brigade, Durham County Council Social Services Department and Sedgefield Locality Carers Centre.
