MIDDLESBROUGH defender Andrew Davies would give the shirt off his back to help a good cause.
And he's just proved it.
A broken leg forced him to miss his team's Carling Cup final victory, but he has donated the shirt he wore in qualifying matches to cancer sufferer Sandy Richardson.
Security guard Richard Welsh obtained the shirt with help from colleagues at BBC Radio Cleveland, in Middlesbrough. It had been signed by all Davies' team-mates.
It will now be auctioned to the highest bidder to help pay for specialist therapy for Mrs Richardson at the Oasis of Hope Hospital, in Mexico.
It is the only hospital in the world offering the treatment she needs to fight her bone cancer.
She has already beaten breast cancer and secondary cancer, which spread to her liver. She underwent an initial course of treatment in Mexico last year but must return there for further treatment.
