A project got under way yesterday designed to turn street scenes into art forms.
The Grafooty initiative was held at the Arc, in Stockton, and saw football keepyups replaced by juggling and graffiti by art.
Funding for the project is being provided by Connexions and Stockton Borough Council's youth service.
Youngsters taking part are also able to learn skills in stilt walking, aerial acrobatics, samba and street dance.
The project began with a three-day intensive workshop - and will now be followed by weekly one-day workshops, every Thursday, from 6pm to 8pm.
Project manager Mike McGrother said: "Arc is developing a reputation for its work with young people across the Tees Valley and nationally.
"Grafooty is a project designed to open up the world of performing arts to anyone, and provides a focus for skills which are often labelled as tricks or hobbies at the current time.
"We want to take everyone's skills and put them into a spectacular, exciting and safe environment."
Participation is free for 14 to 17-year-olds but those interested must register by calling the box office on (01642) 525199.
