THERE is still time for people to nominate volunteers whose dedication has enhanced their communities for an award.
The Darlington Volunteering Awards initiative has been launched by the town's Council for Voluntary Service (CVS).
Volunteer teams who have worked to improve their communities, or for charities, can be nominated for the awards, which are supported by The Northern Echo and Darlington Partnership.
CVS officials said they were anxious not to recognise just the work of individuals, but that of teams of volunteers working together to improve the local area.
Nominations for the awards will be accepted until noon on Friday.
Helen Crute, of the CVS, said: "We've had lots of interest from voluntary and community groups in the town, but we want more.
"We are particularly anxious to hear from people who are not already part of CVS, who perhaps haven't heard of us and what we do."
Anyone who wants to enter the awards can call Mrs Crute on (01325) 266888.
