ALBERT Wearmouth saw his 100th birthday celebrations begin early last night.
The 99-year-old was surrounded by friends and family at his home in Cockerton, Darlington, as he prepared for the big occasion.
Mr Wearmouth, who will be 100 on Friday, had already received a telegram from the Queen, but the celebrations really got under way when family arrived from America to celebrate the event.
