TARGET-SETTING Mark Schwarzer wants Middlesbrough to cap a memorable season off by achieving their double end of season goal.
After February's Carling Cup success over Bolton, Boro have already enjoyed their best ever campaign in the club's history.
But Schwarzer, despite Saturday's defeat to bottom club Wolves, insists the players are going all out to finish on a high.
With four games to go Boro want to finish eighth or above in the Premiership and overtake their record 52 points total collected four years ago.
"We want to achieve the highest League position this club has ever achieved," said the Aussie. "We've already made history by winning a Cup competition and qualifying for Europe and we want to continue that by finishing higher than ninth in the table.
"The higher you finish the better it looks for everyone. It means money for the club and for us it's a prestige thing."
Boro arrived at Molineux unbeaten in five matches yet they were outfought by a Dave Jones side who still look doomed to Division One football in August.
Schwarzer, making his 200th top-flight appearance for Boro, admitted that the visitors never hit top gear - which in turn ended any slim hopes of a Champions League spot.
"There wasn't anything end-of-season about us," said Schwarzer. "There were some tired legs, players maybe mentally tired and it was just a bad day at the office. We didn't perform as we should have performed. We didn't take our opportunities and they did. They have got four games left and everything to fight for. If they had lost it would have been very difficult for them to get out.
"They have got some light at the end of the tunnel and if they keep fighting on like they did, there's every chance they can push teams to the wire."
The Boro goalkeeper also paid tribute to the display of man of the match Henri Camara. "He is very quick, he's got a few tricks and he scored a good goal," he said. "I think he's threatened all season and he has torn teams apart but he's lacked a bit of a finishing touch. I think he will be very important to Wolves next season. Of course someone might try to come in and buy him too."
