TELEVISION celebrity Nell McAndrew is to take on a new role as a guide to a water company's sewage works.
The model and TV presenter, who became the first real-life Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft, is to become a "Sewer Raider" as a virtual host on a new website dedicated to the treatment of sewage.
Last year, Nell launched Yorkshire Water's summer campaign to encourage customers to drink tap water instead of bottled brands.
Yorkshire Water public relations manager David Simister, said: "We didn't know how she would react to being linked with our other core product, sewage. She's a very glamorous woman and frankly sewage isn't.
"I was really pleased when she said yes, and we spent a day with her recording the eight stages of treatment the sewage goes through before the final effluent is returned to the environment."
The website, which features Nell and her voice, takes visitors on a virtual tour of Yorkshire Water's sewage treatment works at Esholt, near Bradford.
Visitors will see the series of treatment processes at the plant, which is capable of dealing with 65 million gallons of waste every day.
The site, www.wastewatertour.com, will be launched on Thursday, May 20. It will feature video clips, photos, illustrations and facts and figures about sewage.
