Bishop Auckland manager Brian Honour has appealed for the fans to turn out in force when they try to clinch promotion against Farsley on Wednesday night.

Bishops' 0-0 draw at fourth placed Lincoln United on Saturday puts them in pole position for the last promotion place.

Bishops are being pursued by five clubs, and they need two points for 13th place and promotion.

Honour said: "The game on Wednesday will probably be the most important match this club has played for a very long time.

"It will be a tough game, because Farsley beat us nine days ago, but the lads will be up for it. It's in our own hands.

"One thing we do want to make sure of, is not having to go to Witton Albion on Saturday needing to win.

"I thought we picked up a good point on Saturday, because Lincoln still had a chance of winning the league."

Bishops almost won the game, but Stuart Irvine hit the post from a free kick, and Shaun Hope's header was well saved.

Lincoln went close through Tony Simmons in the dying seconds.

In the Premier Division, Spennymoor continued their good late season form with a 3-1 home win over Radcliffe Borough.

"If it hadn't been for their keeper, we would easily have doubled our score," said manager Tony Lee.

Moors went close twice in the opening minutes before Radcliffe opened the scoring, Steve Foster firing home.

But Moors levelled after 40 minutes when Steve Preen raced through and set up Danny Brunskill for a simple tap in.

Moors kept up the pressure, and went in front when Preen opened up the Radcliffe defence for John Agbatar to score.

And just on half time they made it three when Preen's shot was blocked, but Brunskill turned quickly to fire home the loose ball.

Moors could have had more in the second half, but Brunskill and Preen were denied further goals.

Whitby Town will have to be content with a play off place after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Altrincham, even though they fought back from 2-0 down to be level at one stage. Scott Nicholson and Craig Veart scored their goals.

Blyth lost again, by 2-1 away to Vauxhall Motors, leaving them without a league win in 15 matches. Tony Woodhouse scored their goal.

Gateshead, who are guaranteed a Premier Division place, drew 3-3 at Farsley Celtic.

Anthony Shandran and David Morgan put them 2-0 ahead, and after Farsley pulled back to 2-2, James Curtis scored again for Gateshead.
