IT is hoped more than 1,000 people will help to celebrate the heritage of a North-East town at a special event this weekend.
Last year, a record number of people attended the Guisborough Heritage Day and it is hoped that success can be emulated on Saturday, when numerous venues throughout the town open their doors to visitors, from 10am to 4pm.
Events taking place include a guided walk, displays in the priory, various displays and activities by local groups in Sunnyfield House.
There will also be displays at Guisborough Museum and at Prior Pursglove College.
Other venues opening their doors with special displays and activities include St Nicholas' Church, Zetland Masonic Hall, Guisborough United Reformed Church and Guisborough Library.
A fairground organ will be playing on Westgate outside the Methodist Church.
A free programme detailing the day's events is available from both Sunnyfield House and Gisborough Priory on the day.
Guisborough Market Town Initiative is funding events. Carol Hudson, project manager for the town initiative, said: "We really hope everyone will enjoy the day. There is lots to see and do, thanks to the efforts of everyone involved."
