PEOPLE are being urged to visit a museum before it closes for refurbishment.
A £272,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has enabled the work to be carried out at York Art Gallery, which will shut for six months on June 6.
However, art lovers will not be left in the lurch as the York Museum's trust is to open a contemporary art venue at York St Mary's, Castlegate.
The former church will host an installation-based exhibition on the theme of light, from July to October.
Entrance to both galleries is free
