THE Grosmont Gallery and caf has been sold to London buyers for an undisclosed sum.
The gallery, opposite the steam railway station in Grosmont, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, has been sold through the Leeds office of specialist business agents, Christie and Co.
Owners Chris and Tess Geal have sold the gallery, in Front Street, to enable Mr Geal to concentrate full time on his career as a fine artist.
The purchasers are Steve Horowitz and Sandra Watt, from North London.
This is their first business - Mr Horowitz having formerly been an IT consultant - and they intend to continue selling Mr Geal's paintings.
Mark Bailey, of Christie and Co, said: "The Geals recently ceased trading the business but both the cafe and the gallery have been very popular with the many visitors attracted to the village.
"Its position offers tourists the first opportunity for refreshment on leaving the station car park. Steve and Sandra have bought a business in a prime retail location with a large trading area and good owner's accommodation. We wish them every success with their new venture."
