TERMINALLY-ILL children suffering from the after-effects of the Chernobyl disaster will visit the region later this year.
A total of 30 children from the Chernobyl-affected Blears regions will spend a month on Teesside.
They will be among hundreds of youngsters coming to the UK in an annual scheme set up by a national charity.
Staff at the Garlands Call Centre, in Hartlepool, are organising a day out for the children on Sunday, August 8.
The young people will be taken to Caf Del Mar, at Hartlepool Marina, and will be treated to entertainers and goodie bags.
Blears received 70 per cent of the radioactive fallout from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster which affects food, crops, water and air.
Thousands of children are still being born with leukaemia and other forms of cancer.
Anyone who wants to help make the fun day as memorable as possible is asked to call Tracy Hare, at Garlands Call Centre, on (01429) 283174.
