AN inquest has opened into the deaths of a North-East nanny and her boyfriend who died while diving in a 250ft -deep lake.
Gloucestershire Coroner Alan Crickmore took evidence of identification on Janine Davison-Evans, 27, of Rochdale Avenue, Roseworth, Stockton, and her boyfriend, Hank Austin, 25, of Ascot, Berkshire.
The couple went diving in the Old Dayhouse Quarry, at the National Diving Centre, in Tidenham, in the Forest of Dean, on Good Friday, and never resurfaced.
When there was no sign of them that evening, and their car was seen still parked at the centre, the alarm was raised.
On Easter Monday, police divers used sonar equipment to find their bodies at a depth of about 250ft.
Mr Crickmore said the body of Ms Davison-Evans, who was working as a live-in nanny at Sunningdale, Berkshire, had been formally identified by her mother, Maureen.
Pathologist Dr Ian Calder, who has experience of diving accidents, carried out post-mortem examinations.
Mr Crickmore said the inquest would be adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow for the preparation of a full report on events leading up to the tragedy.
