PARK and ride has a new meaning at the Cobalt office park, in North Tyneside.
While waiting for completion of a £12m public transport infrastructure project, some users of Cobalt have decided to make their own arrangements for getting to work - people have been spotted riding through the park on horseback, though it is not known where they left the horse for the day.
Highbridge, the developers of Cobalt Park, are keen that people are able to reach the site.
They are supporting Nexus, which, together with North Tyneside Council, will complete the new multi-modal transport Stephenson Corridor Link by the end of the year, bringing fast public transport links to Cobalt.
They will include a Metro station interchange at Backworth that will link with a kerb-guided bus service to the business park on dedicated roads. The station will include lift access to the platforms, and make provision for a bus interchange with park and ride facilities.
Work has also been completed on the High Flatworth extension road next to Cobalt to speed up travel times from the coast and ferry at North Shields.
